About the Role
The Plant Controller will oversee the financial operations of the Beaumont manufacturing plant, ensuring accurate financial accounting, cost control, regulatory compliance, and timely financial reporting to support operational and strategic decision‑making. This role will report to the Controller and oversee several cost accountants.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Lead month-end and year-end close for the plant including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet substantiation, financial statements and variance analysis
Cost Accounting & Inventory: standard costing, product cost rollups, inventory valuation (FIFO/LIFO/standard), obsolescence reserves, and reconciliation between production and financials.
Operational Tracking: Produce timely operating reports and KPI dashboards (e.g. cost per unit, yields, margins, OEE-related metrics) for plant leadership and corporate finance
Internal controls and compliance: design/maintain compliance controls, enforce segregation of duties, oversee internal/external audit requests, and ensure adherence to GAAP.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Manage plant budgeting and forecasting: develop annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario analyses in partnership with operations, procurement, and corporate finance
Cash Management: monitor plant cash needs, support cash flow forecasts, and review/approve capex requests and project accounting in conjunction with corporate finance and Treasury
Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements in margin, operations, and reporting. Contribute to operational, financial, and systems enhancements
Team Leadership: Lead and develop finance/accounting staff at the plant including hiring, coaching, performance management and training
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
7+ years accounting and finance experience with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
ERP systems experience (SAP strongly preferred)
Strong Excel and analytical skills
Proven ability to lead a small finance team, influence operational stakeholders, present financial data clearly, and drive process improvements
Detail-oriented, highly analytical
Hands-on and collaborative, with strong business partnership skills
Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments
Strong communicator with ability to translate numbers into insights
