Our client is a high-growth, private equity-sponsored distributor of specialty pharmaceuticals helping life-saving products reach patients. Originally one of the largest distributors of pharma products for hemophiliacs, the Company has expanded into other therapeutic areas including oncology and ophthalmology. With the business expected to double revenues organically over the next two years, the Company is expanding and transforming its accounting and finance organization to support continued growth.
About the Role
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role will own general ledger coding, coordinate AP, conduct variance analysis and reporting, and support other key accounting needs. This position will leverage this experience in the pharmaceutical industry to play a critical role in building a well-run operational finance function as the Company grows. The ideal candidate will require minimal supervision while being a strong business partner to the finance team and overall organization.
Key Responsibilities
● Support month-end closing, review of balance sheet reconciliations, ad-hoc reporting
● Aid in annual audit and governmental reporting
● Review coding and ensures proper approval on accounts payable invoices
● Provides analytics and analysis on profit & loss accounts
● Coordinates with other departments for process improvements and problem resolution
● Coordinates physical inventory counts
● Reviews detailed transactions and tracks, calculates, and records various tax accruals including property, sales/use, and excise taxes
● Prepares and files state annual reports, property taxes, and other licensing requirements
● Reconciles subsidiary leger to general ledger and prepares adjustments
● Participates in system updates
● Become an integral business partner to all team members, customers, and stakeholders
● Bring any compliance issues to the attention of management
● May lead lower-level staff as directed
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent
● Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting
● Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a preference for pharmaceutical distribution
● Efficient oral and written communication skills
● Strong organization and analytical skills
● Ability to work well with all levels of staff and management in a team environment
● Comfort working with and maintaining highly confidential data
● SAP experience is not required but strong plus
● CPA is not required but strong plus
● Must be able to pass a drug test and background check aligned with company, licensing, and accreditation standards
