LaundryBee (or the “Company”) was founded in 2019 to offer busy New Yorkers an elevated and convenient laundry experience. Emphasizing a family-friendly and clean environment with strong brand appeal and fully tech-enabled in-store operations, the Company is bringing a modern and differentiated take to the laundry business. With over 12 locations and plans to expand aggressively to over 100 units over the next 3-5 years with the support of an institutional financial partner, the Company is growing rapidly while building its corporate infrastructure and maintaining financial discipline.
About the Role
LaundryBee is looking for an experienced Controller with organizational and entrepreneurial chops to build the Company’s financial & accounting infrastructure and drive the implementation of practices, processes, and KPIs so the Company can scale effectively. Reporting directly to the Founder/CEO, the Controller will own the accounting and finance function end to end with a path to CFO as the Company scales. You will have the opportunity to be a true “builder” for a fast-growth organization as it capitalizes on new market opportunities and transforms into a scaled platform in a large and essential industry.
Candidates must be motivated, collaborative, a self-starter, and hard-working in order to succeed in a high-growth environment. While this role is 100% remote, we are looking for New York-based candidates who can be on site as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Drive and complete the implementation of basic reporting procedures within the first 90 days of placement, including a multi-location monthly close process and conversion to GAAP accounting
Kickstart the build-out of daily finance and accounting functions, including management of cash flow to support daily operations and strategic initiatives
Drive implementation of best practices across finance policies and controls
Consolidate financial data from independent reporting applications, including QuickBooks and the Company’s management software platform(s)
Lead financial onboarding process for new laundromat locations
Provide senior management and the Company’s stakeholders with all relevant financial and related information on a regular and timely basis and as otherwise requested (e.g. full set of monthly GAAP statements, Board packages, etc.)
Prepare the company for its first audit and be the main point person for the external auditors along with all 3rd party audits
Oversee an outsourced tax team to meet all tax and regulatory reporting requirements on a timely basis
Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process including financial model, forecasts and variance analyses
Proactively provide analysis and recommendations on business performance
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field
10+ years of financial work experience with a record of success and increased responsibility
Strong understanding of consolidation and reporting for multi-unit operations
Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks and/or ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills
Ability to be hands-on, detail-oriented and comfortable with running a day-to-day operational accounting function
Experience with managing an accounts payable and accounts receivable function
Experience with financial planning and budgeting a plus
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
CPA preferred but is not required
Preference for candidates that have experience with private equity sponsors
