About the Role

Our client, Sandstone, is looking for a Controller who can be a strategic accounting leader who can both oversee core financial operations but also provide insights that help the business grow and optimize its performance. This role will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, support strategic financial planning and decisioning, and collaborate with key internal leaders across the organization. This is a remote role that reports directly to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership over the company’s accounting functions

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB standards, and all applicable financial regulations the Company is subject to

  • Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting and processes

  • Evaluate, maintain and optimize internal controls

  • Assess and mitigate financial and operational risk through data analysis and trend monitoring

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions

  • Lead relationships and ensure efficient banking operations

  • Continuously evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance scalability, reporting efficiency and accuracy

  • Collaborate with FP&A and senior leadership to be a thought partner that analyzes business performance, provides financial strategic guidance and informs key decision-making

  • Mentor and lead a high performing accounting and finance team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related subject

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 4 years in a leadership role

  • Experience in a multi-site environment (e.g. companies operating locations with distinct P&Ls)

  • CPA or CMA

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and influence leaders to drive decision making

  • Prior experience in a private equity or venture-backed organization

  • Healthcare experience is preferred but not required
