About the Role
The BD Executive is a seasoned “hunter” and self-starter with a proven track record of winning new customers and growing existing key accounts. As the first business development hire, this role is an opportunity to play a central role in Star Shuttle’s continued growth, including making significant contributions to sales and marketing strategies for specific market segments and large accounts.
The BD Executive will own the entire sales process from prospecting and lead generation through close, including industry research, target outreach, and contract negotiation (in close collaboration with the leadership team). This person is solution-oriented, has personal drive and enthusiasm, integrity, team oriented and the ability to build strong relationships quickly. They will leverage a range of channels to reach customers from in-person visits and trade shows to phone and email.
This is a hybrid role based at Star Shuttle’s San Antonio HQ with travel mostly within the state of Texas.
Key Responsibilities
Prospect and generate leads with a structured, proactive approach:
Identify targets and their key decision makers
Develop leads through a range of channels from cold calling and emailing to site visits to trade shows
Qualify new opportunities based on criteria developed collaboratively with the leadership team
Manage the end-to-end sales process and pipeline for new customers:
Assess profitable opportunities from leads received and generated
Develop and nurture relationships with key prospects and decision makers, anticipating needs and undertaking actions to exceed expectations
Structure and negotiate contracts with prospective customers in collaboration with the leadership team
Engage Star Shuttle’s leadership appropriately in the sales process, drawing on their experience and industry expertise
Others
Maintain and update Star Shuttle’s CRM to consistently track sales activities and the pipeline
Support marketing efforts where appropriate
Quickly develop an excellent understanding of the competitive environment, Star Shuttle’s positioning in each market segment, and the risks and growth opportunities
Coordinate and work cross-functionally with respective Ops team and extended team members to manage daily activity and detail for quotes, proposals, and continual business continuity
Qualifications
8+ years of selling b2b services with a focus on winning new customers
Proven track record of successfully exceeding annual sales goals in a new or small sales organization
Structured, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and data-driven individual with the ability to multitask and work proactively to make things happen in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative with an ability to work cross-functionally
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Bachelor's degree
Additional experience that is a plus, but not required
Experience in the passenger transportation industry
Winning new customers in Star Shuttle’s target markets: k-12 schools, universities, governments, large corporations
Identifying and responding to RFPs
