The Company is a high-growth, private-equity sponsored manufacturer serving a large and diverse customer base including large consumer packaged goods companies.

About the Role

The Company is seeking a motivated and experienced Accounting Lead to play a key role in leading the accounting function in close collaboration with the CFO. This role requires the flexibility and desire to shift between execution and strategy.


The ideal candidate will have experience in an operating role at one or more high growth manufacturing businesses where they developed a “hands-on,” pragmatic, and collaborative approach. This role offers significant opportunity for growth, including the expectation that this position will grow into a Controller role.


This role is based in Janesville, WI and is ideally on-site, but can potentially be hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations to maintain accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP standards, including ledger management, month end close, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity, etc.

  • Own AP and AR processes

  • Oversee the preparation of periodic financial statements, ensuring that the financial records are accurate and completed on time.

  • Assist senior management in financial planning and results management. Use financial analysis to assist in the evaluation of potential acquisitions, investments, or other issues affecting the business.

  • Develop and implement new process and policies, including inventory and AP/AR.

  • Establish, document, implement, and maintain accounting policies and internal controls to safeguard company assets as the business evolves.

  • Prepare the Company for and help execute future audits.

  • Work with external parties to prepare and ensure timely tax filings are appropriate

  • Play a leading role alongside the CFO in building a high-performing, professional accounting / finance function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

  • 5+ years of experience, including at least 2 years as an Accounting Manager in an operating company

  • Strong technical accounting skills and awareness of when additional outside technical advice is needed

  • Flexible, pragmatic and collaborative approach to solving problems and supporting the CFO in building the Accounting function

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
